Mr. Spellman began his training in Shaolin Chinese Kenpo (Shorinjiryu) in 1976
under Mr. William Brogna and received his Black Belt in 1978. He now possess a
(Shichidan) 7th degree Black Belt from Grand Master Tim
Teausant in the Kosho Shorei Ryu system of Kenpo Juijitsu taught by Masayoshi
Mitose (James).
Mr. Spellman was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame on June 2,
2007 as Kenpo Master of the Year.
Mr. Spellman has been chosen to represent the USA in the 2008 Good Will Games
in Hawaii as the US National Kenpo Martial Arts Team Coach.
Mr. Spellman is the Oregon State Director for the 'Alliance', which is an
alliance of all martial art disciplines around the world.
Mr. Spellman also received his Ph.D. And Ma.D.Sc. (Doctorates in Martial Arts
Philosophy and Martial Arts Science) on February 17, 2008 by Grand Master Dr.
Jim Thomas and the University of Asian Martial Arts Studies.
USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame on February 17th 2008 Alumni
Mr. Spellman was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame on June 20,
2009 for the Silver Life Award.
Kenpo Hall of Fame on May 20th 2009 "Sustaining Member"
Mr. Spellman was inducted into the Kenpo Hall of Fame on June 27, 2009.
Mr. Spellman was inducted into the USA Martial Arts hall of Fame on May 8,
2010 for System Founder of the Year
Mr. Spellman was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame "Hall
of Heroes" on April 30th 2011 "Supreme 'Soke' Founder of the
Year"
Mr. Spellman still trains in and teaches Kenpo in Gresham, Oregon at the First
